One of the key elements of culture is to de-isolate us and to give us evidence of what life is like for the other…
I am the founder and arts management consultant through the Office of Cultural Work. As a leader in the field of nonprofit and philanthropy with a focus on cultural work at the intersection of art and social change–I have worked with individual artists and non-profits alike. My career has placed me in leadership roles at Penumbra Theatre, Walker Art Center, The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Blue Man Group and Lambent Foundation. Consultancies I have worked include, Seitu Ken Jones, Jefferson Pinder, CommonBond, Northern Lights, The Soap Factory, Burnet Gallery, Lha Charitable Trust, New York Foundation for the Arts, Immigrant Artist Project and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
I was a co-founder of The Drawing Project, a mission driven art project to encourage and engage diverse local/global perspectives on contemporary drawing through nomadic drawing workshops. While in NYC, I co-founded NYC Women’s Salon, a professional network/mentoring group involved in progressive fields. For a two-year term, I served as the Board President of CVA Action, a nonprofit dedicated to the alumni of the College of Visual Arts. And am currently the Board Chair of artEquity Communities.
Shannon’s many talents bring closer the worlds of art, social justice, and philanthropy.
